Every day,
we went to visit Alan Johnson from the Hamlet office who very kindly printed
off the latest Ice charts
which didn't look good. The locals had not been able to go whale hunting and
most said that it wouldn't open this year. Finally on the 29th
of August, the charts started to show a weakening of the solid 9+ pack
in Larsen Sound and Franklin Strait, so we decide to go and investigate.
